See You in June!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend folks! I was pleasantly surprised to see how many students were in their classes this morning! Our little ballerinas are so dedicated! Not only that, but my students this morning were so focused and such excellent listeners! They definitely made Miss Elizabeth very proud!

Enjoy the weekend festivities and we’ll see you all in June!!!

Happy Dancing,

Spring into Summer

It's hard to believe that the spring session is almost over. We have only three weeks left after Memorial Day until the session ends! We roll right into summer camps and classes, never a break for Ballet Petite.

I'm very excited to see the introduction of new camps in Potomac going so well this summer. This summer, we are having daily camps and they have become very popular because of the flexibility they allow. Plus, the themes are so fun! Our most popular theme thus far is Disney Princess, which doesn't surprise me. We also have other great themes like A Magical Journey with stories like "Alice in Wonderland" and "Peter Pan," and Animal Kingdom with stories like "Rainbow Fish" and "Where the Wild Things Are." I'm very much looking forward to see how much the children enjoy these timeless stories!

Have a great holiday weekend,
Sarah

Twinkle Pops

We've been out of stock of Twinkle Pops in Bethesda for nearly a week. What a terribly tragic thing. Everyone hates to be the person who tells those sweet smiling faces that they will have to wait until next week to enjoy their weekly treat for the end of class. It is truly heartbreaking to see our tiny dancers bourree up to the front desk, their eyes wide with anticipation as they scour the desk for the vase with the rainbow bouquet of flowers, bears, and butterflies. Hopefully we'll have a new shipment in after the holiday weekend!

Keep Dancing,
Sophie

Full Speed Ahead

It’s very quiet at Ballet Petite McLean this morning! It seems many of our families have taken off early for the long Memorial Day Weekend! What a nice treat for them! I think this break is very much needed for students, parents, and staff alike! When we get back from the Memorial Day break it is going to be a whirlwind of excitement that will all happen very fast!!

Saturday June 5th kicks of our busy few weeks with our Thumbelina (Bethesda only) and Alice in Wonderland Recitals! Then on Sunday June 6th, we’ll have three more performances: Sleeping Beauty, Spotlight on Broadway, and the Spring Concert. But it doesn’t end there!!! The following weekend we’ll have one more Thumbelina Recital (this time featuring our McLean, Cabin John and Kentlands students)!!!

But again- it’s not over yet!!! Our Visitor’s Week will take place from Monday June 7th through Sunday June 13th! (Please check with your teachers though, because some Visitor’s Days have been rescheduled due to recital conflicts!).

And that’s still not all!!! June 14th through June 20th will be Make-Up Week! Our dancers will still have their regularly scheduled class that week, but can schedule up to two missed classes in addition.

And then… drum roll please… Summer Camps and Classes begin right away on Monday June 21st!!!!

It’s full speed ahead at Ballet Petite!!!

Happy Dancing!

Recital-ready!

It's official! My Musical Theatre class finished their recital piece yesterday! What an exciting day! They're singing "Anything You Can Do" from Annie Get Your Gun (as per their request!) We've focused quite a bit this year on the singing aspect of being a triple-threat, and so (to showcase all of their hard work) they'll be singing it with a kareoke CD instead of the original recording. They have worked so hard all year long, I am so proud and excited to see the final result next Sunday!

Keep Singing!

Musical Theatre Performance Company

We have been simply flooded with phone call and email concerns regarding who will be replacing the beloved Miss Roxi as Artistic Director of the Musical Theatre Performance Company. Miss Roxi has rounded up a group of die-hard fans over her last two years at Ballet Petite, and her impending move has students and parents alike saddened and worried about who will fill her enormous shoes!

We have been interviewing some wonderful potential new teachers for Ballet Petite over the past three weeks and are nearly ready to make some final decisions. With such a wonderful staff, we are looking forward to bringing in some new teachers to join our Ballet Petite family.

Never Fear!
