Degas' Dancers
The Philips Collection in Washington DC has an exciting new exhibit titled "Degas' Dancers at the Barre: Point and Counterpoint," opening Oct 1st. Eduard Degas was an Impressionist artist with a backstage pass to all of the Parisian ballet. From his vantage point, he was able to capture dancers not only in ther performance form, but in practice and in private. In our Ballet Petite curriculum, our book Bijou, Bon Bon, and Beau features Degas-inspired paintings of ballerinas and kittens while Marie in 4th Position features Degas himself sculpting a ballerina. If you can, take your dancer to this wonderful exhibit!
